Getting Concerned about the Different Issues of the Youth




ISSUE NO.1

          *A growing number of youth are engaging in risky behavior without understanding its consequences.

  • Include adolescent health issues in basic courses.

  • Train teachers

  • Enact law on RH

  • Assign professional counselors in schools

  • More innovative programs to reach the youth


ISSUE NO.2

            *Adults do not know how to communicate openly about sexuality with young people.

  • Lack of parental guidance


ISSUE NO.3

          *Media is playing a bigger role in young lives.

  • Strengthen family ties

  • Advocacy especially to parents

  • Parent-child encounter program

            *Violent connotations conveyed by media and ads.
            Proliferation of porno materials.

  • Promote proper values

  • Suspend students who read porno


 ISSUE NO.4

            *RH policies, programs and services ignore the youth’s needs.

  • Sexual harassment in the workplace and in campus.

  • Discrimination against gays and pregnant women in workplace.
  • Youth have no access to health services and info in workplace.

  • Physical and sexual abuse of street youth by policemen.

  • Youth activities seem difficult to sustain.

  • No law to provide RH services to adolescents.

  • Push for ordinances to protect the youth

  • Accessible health services in the workplace

  • Street educators to help the youth

  • Don’t limit youth programs to sports


  • Programs must be sustained


 ISSUE NO.5

            *The voice of the youth must be heard in all youth-related efforts.

  • RH education needs were designed for adults

  • Youth leaders are not fully equipped to serve their young constituents

  • Lobby for AHYD

  • Capability training for SK leaders

  • More youth-friendly facilities

  • Mobilize the youth
